This is the poster I created for my project "Happy Realisation day"  Ever wondered why we give chocolates and flowers on Valentines Day? Or why we eatchocolate eggs for Easter? Or why there’s a day dedicated to almost every familymember? Why we take “coffee breaks” at work or drink orange juice in the morning withbreakfast or give a shiny rock as a symbol of our “undying love”?All of the above have one thing in common– advertising.Corporate marketing has, and still, plays a big role in the lives of consumers.My project covers the effects consumerism has over holidays and traditions, how it hasdeviated since consumerism first began and how superficial these rituals are, in fact,once you know the contrast between their original objectives and their current motives.For example, holidays like Valentines Day, Akshaya Tritiya and even Independence Day(of India) have lost their purpose and significance due to advertisers and marketers.
