Linear, Planar & HybridFirst Project in Architecture School University of Malaya 2010 (B. Sc in Architecture, part 1)

Architecture came crashing in. None of us in Design Studio class knew what we were about to get our hands on.I was introduced in my secondary school art class about the concept of a point. A point that leads to a line. Multiple points create a line and multiple lines create an image. Here, I learned that the concept continues. In architecture, a line also forms a plane. A three dimensional surface that can be felt and experienced. Multiples linear elements creates a planar element. Series of a combination of various linear and planar creates hybrid elements,  out of which creates the built environment we live in. This exercise helps us to further understand this concept and also further extrapolate them into models of individually designed three dimensional poetry.

LINEARIt carries itself with eight lines, eight legs of sleek stability. A spider possesses the same linear power of a movable linear structure. It is a living linear creature in itself.

PLANAR

HYBRIDA mix of linear and planar elements are seen in everyday objects right in front of us, whether gigantic or miniature size in a bottle. The linear hull of a ship and the strings that holds the sails together on a windy day at sea. When these two elements merely coexist, it's acceptable. When they cooperate and depend upon each other to work, it's beautiful.

Looking back at this first ever project, it all makes sense now.Why don't you try to make your own set of linear, planar and hybrid manipulation of your own manifestation of the universe  ;) Thank you for dropping by this portfolio!
